Our Objective
Dorset Indian Association (DIA) Charity
The Dorset Indian Association (DIA) is a registered UK charity (Charity No. 1189959) dedicated to celebrating Indian culture and fostering community wellbeing across Dorset and the surrounding areas.
Founded by members of the Indian diaspora, DIA provides a vibrant platform for cultural celebration, education, and charitable work. Our mission is to promote social inclusion, cultural awareness, and positive community impact through a range of initiatives and partnerships.
Our Charitable Work
We actively support and raise funds for a variety of local and national charities, including:
-
Julia’s House – a children’s hospice providing vital care for terminally ill children and their families
-
BBC Children in Need – supporting disadvantaged children and young people across the UK
-
St Mungo’s – offering services to help homeless people rebuild their lives
-
Dorset Race Equality Council – promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout Dorset
In partnership with organisations such as Wessex Cancer Alliance, Dorset Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, Bournemouth University and LiveWell Dorset, we run health awareness campaigns and health camps that benefit our community.
Our Goals
-
Promote and preserve Indian culture through festivals, education, and community events
-
Foster social cohesion by welcoming people of all backgrounds, faiths, and ages
